    1. Hard disk crashed.
    2. Open up system unit and removed dead hard disk. Leaving another behind. I’ve got two, you see? (My first time doing this and I’m so excited and scared.)
    3. Windows cannot detect the only hard disk drive left. (Want to cry!)
    4. Tried to set the jumper settings. (From CS to Master)
    5. Windows still cannot detect hard disk.
    6. Tried to use a different power connector (I didn’t know the name to it before this.). There’s 3. The other two didn’t work. The last remaining one did. (Thank God!)
    7. Windows detected a hard drive with a very exclaiming name. WDC-xxx-dsds!!!!!!!!!!! (It came with lots of exclamation mark behind!)
    8. There are 2 IDE ribbon cables (I also didn’t know the name to it before this). One black. One grey. Tried to connect to either one till it worked. Now I don’t remember which colour I connected it to. But janji dah detected dan dah ada nama sah.
    9. Tried to format the hard disk. This one was a breeze.
    10. Tried to install fresh Windows XP and it worked.
    11. However, the computer just won’t load Windows XP.
    12. I formatted 3 times and installed XP 3 times after that. (Still not working, am gonna pull out my hair!!!)
    13. Finally, discovered that stupid pirated XP CD contains corrupted file. (Me wanna cry so much!)
    14. Tried to install with another XP CD but formatted it again, though I wasn’t sure whether formatting was necessary but it was a phsychological effect to remove corruption happened earlier on. I want it all clean, baby. Clean!
    15. Windows XP successfully installed. (Yippie!)
    16. Installed other software programs which took a great deal of time but of course shorter than the time from #1-14 as listed above.
    17. Happily yakking away with kawan-kawan.
    18. Wanted to shut down PC but it ain’t letting me do it. No response. Ain’t shutting. Nope, it ain’t shutting.
    19. That’s when Google is my best companion because it gives me solutions.
    20. All I had to do was to change the properties in “My Computer”. ( I learnt something new today)
    21. My PC finally managed to get some rest after the going-to-be-dead hard disk having gone through 7 hours of formatting but only managed to reach status until 19%. So sad. The longest formatting in history. I couldn’t wait. I went to bed.
    22. I’m happy I’ve got 2 hard disk so I could throw the dead one away and use the one that’s still alive.
    23. However, all my photos and music files are gone. (Bye bye love, Bye bye happiness. Hello loneliness. I think I’m gonna c-rrrryy!)
    24. My computer is happy now.
    25. When my computer is happy, Gracie is happy too.

  • Monkey

This morning, Mummy and I was in battle zone. She attacked and I was left with no defence.

It got better in the afternoon when we went walking at the nearby park.

We saw birds, tortoise, and monkeys.

I loved the monkeys. Today, they decided to be more adventurous. While the people were feeding the tortoise and birds with bread crumbs, they came nearer to where the food is being thrown.

They are afraid of people as much as people are afraid of them. Some small kids, however thinks there is nothing to be afraid of.
The monkeys grabbed the bread as soon as it’s being thrown, retreat and ate as fast as they could. Then, coming back for more.

There were peanuts too. Loved the way they crack the peanut shell and then enjoying the peanuts in it.

I don’t know whether all these people come here to jog or to feed monkeys.

    There were bananas too.

Also loved the way the monkeys peeled off the banana skin and then enjoying the banana.

  • This is a Story About a Duck Named Ducky

An old entry of mine from my old blog. Saw it when I was browsing through some files. Decided to post it here again. So, read…

    ducky

    My name is Ducky.

    I am 4 years old.

I grew up in Toys “R” Us, One Utama.

One day, a girl named Grace caught sight of me among a bunch of ducks. Believe it or not, it was love at first sight for her. Why I say so? Because she chose to hug me out of the so many ducks lying dead with me.

I have been in Toys “R” Us my whole life but I haven’t once had a chance to tour around this toy store I belong to. But I did, thanks to Grace because she walked all over the toy store, hugging me, not wanting to let me go.

I saw tigers, dogs, Barbie, Lego, Play Doh, Harry Potter, Power Rangers….. I’m panting. I just can’t list them down here. It was so cool!

The tour ended as we reached the cashier. I was excited but Grace looked sad. She was mumbling to herself and raising her eyebrow, thinking deeply.

The next thing she did was walked all the way back to where she found me and put me down with all the other dead ducks again. She was still holding me like she doesn’t want to let me go. After a few seconds, she was out of sight. I was devastated.

When she was about to leave the store, I heard her telling her friends that she didn’t have enough money to buy me.

    I wished I was cheaper.

I thought about her a lot. I didn’t know her name but it was the first time, someone hugged me, walked me around the toy store and for that split second, I felt belonged. The feeling is so nice.

One day after that, a guy came. He was having a hard time choosing what he want. He was staring at so many of us. I wanted to leave this place and I don’t care whether he’s a nice guy. I wanted to see the world.

I gave him a grin to make myself look cuter. I think it worked because he picked me. I thought the outside world was beautiful but I couldn’t see a thing. All I see is a white colour bag with a stupid smiling giraffe. I hope I wouldn’t spend the rest of my life in this bag. It’s terrifying!

The next colourful thing I saw was the sky. It was blue and there were clouds too. Then, someone took me out of the plastic bag and I saw two people. This guy who bought me and a girl who seemed to be so familiar. It was her!

My heart raced faster than ever.

She was so happy to see me. She gave me the most dashing smile I’ve ever seen. I felt pretty.

From then on, I’m always by Grace’s side. She can be gloomy at times and I see her cry a lot when she’s really upset. But I guess I helped a lot in cheering her up. She just seemed to melt away when she sees me. Sometimes she talks to me. Sometimes she just smile. Sometimes she just give me a pat on the head.

    I wish I could talk.

Sometimes I get to see her work. Just like today, Grace seemed to appear serious. She was sitting in front of the computer and typing all the way, occasionally refering to this thick red book. What do you call it? Oh yeah, programming!

I can tell you Grace doesn’t like programming at all. Neither do I.

As you can see in the picture, I sat on a book named “How to Simplify Your Life.”

I don’t know how to read.

    I wish I could read.

But I do know one thing. I know how to simplify Grace’s life.

    The answer is me.

  • Karen

Hari ini aku sedih sebab Karen dah keluar dari Akademi Fantasia.

  • I Got No Money

I was blow drying my hair in the room, with the door ajar.

Mummy walked towards the kitchen and passed by the room. Paused and looked at me.

“Aiyoh! Still wearing that pyjamas? The shorts won’t fall meh?”

I purposely made it fall. Since it’s loose, I just need to shake a bit.

    “Yeeee…!”

Then, Iris came and Mummy walked out of the kitchen.

Iris said, “Eh, pull up your shirt?”

I pulled up a bit lor. I know what they wanted to see. They want to see my shorts dangling, while revealing the undie that is not supposed to be seen.

    “Hahahaha!”

“I got no money to buy lar ok?”

Actually, I’ve got problem throwing away comfortable pyjamas like that. Let it be koyak rabak but I’ll still wear because there’s something about all these koyak rayak pyjamas that makes sleeping an enjoyable activity.

“24 years old oh!” Mummy was telling Iris.

“Ya lor. 24 oh. Can get married already. Will get married soon. I cannot imagine.”

“I also cannot imagine. You see her like that. 24 years old oh!”

“Aiyah, no boyfriend how to get married?”

“Aiyah, she will get married when the time comes.”

    Gracie continued blowing her hair.

Then, all of us were in the study room.

Mummy was wiping dry her hair with the towel.

“You see? You also got no money to buy bra ah?” Iris asked.

Maklumlah bra Mummy sudah koyak rabak juga.

“Aiyah, this one I wear to sleep only ma.”

“I also wear this pyjamas to sleep only what.” I said.

  • Akademi Fantasia is Back!

And so I’ll be glued to the TV every Saturday at 8:30pm next week till early August. This is so fun!

The person who started the craze was I think my mum. She was watching Akademi Fantasia Season 1 and we just sat next to her and followed the show. Then, we were addicted. It’s Season 4 now. Pappy would be watching too because he has got no choice when 3 other ladies in the house are watching. Hehe. But he likes it also. He is good in predicting who’s going to be kicked out in the next round.

My maid at home in Sandakan loves it too. I still remember the both of us watching in the kitchen (where the 2nd Astro decoder set is located) while Pappy watches other program in the living room. My maid and I whom I call “Kakak” rarely talk. She is shy. I’m also shy. I’ve always been very good with all my previous kakaks. Maybe they are very talkative. But this is one kakak that I just cannot talk much with. But we smile a lot. She looks a bit like Siti Nurhaliza.
That aside, Pappy would have to sit down when we watch Korean dramas or Hong Kong dramas on Wah Lai Toi. Sometimes there would be crying scenes. He would go, “Nice to watch meh? Everyday also cry, cry, cry. I know what will happen next. Sure cry again.”

Cry, cry, cry. In the end, he will also sit down and watch what.

Tonight, they will be showing Akademi Fantasia’s Prelude Concert with the very funny host, Aznil Haji Nawawi. I like him a lot. What’s interesting this season is we’ve got a Chinese contestant, Karen from Kota Bharu. I want to see her sing.

I can’t wait for tonight. I want to hear Liya sing Sudirman’s “One Thousand Million Smiles”.

    Yay!
