Run, Bunny. Run!

Blog

  • First of May

The body is still recovering. I get very tired just coughing and blowing my nose to get all the remaining phlegms out. I had wanted to just rest at home because I was feeling really lazy. But I thought I should be out there, somewhere, spending some time with Iris. I wanted to catch the movie “Ice Kacang Puppy Love” today, so that I don’t have to fight with everyone else whom I know will be watching either Ip Man 2 or Iron Man 2.

The screen was showing it as selling fast and by the time we reached the counter, it was already sold out. Great! Tried our luck with Ip Man 2 since Iron Man 2’s sessions are all selling fast like crazy. I tell you, it was like crazy!!! I was very amazed when the guy told me there’s ticket available for Ip Man 2…and it’s a middle seat towards the back of the cinema. It’s like a God-sent ticket considering the movie was about to start in 20 minutes…so I’m guessing the reservation has been released and we were lucky enough to get those seats!

I like the movie. In fact, I like Ip Man as a character very much. If only I could get a husband like him. Haha! Not because he knows kung fu but because he’s so righteous, so wise, so steady, so calm, so responsible and on top of it all, a loving family man.

After the movie, I went for a hair wash! My usual hairdresser wasn’t in today so another guy tended to me. I always like going to the saloon when I feel I’m a bit messed up or stressed. Just having someone touch your hair, wash those mess away feels like he’s putting you in your right mind again. And you know how they like to converse with you…from where you stay, where do you work, what are you working as and so on. But for the first time…he actually asked how old I am while he was rinsing away the shampoo from my hair. Ada berani.

I’ve always answered age-related questions when being asked so I told him. I didn’t ask him back though because if he was younger, I would feel like killing myself because today he look quite cute lor. hahaha.

He then asked me if I’m married. I wanted to laugh but I kept my composure. I just told him I haven’t found one yet so I’m not married. He asked me when I plan to get married. I told him… NOW. 😀

He asked me what kind of guy I’m looking for.

    I just replied, “正常一点的人“。

Now it was his turn to laugh.

  • A Runny Nose

It struck me out of the blue. No symptoms. In fact, when the symptoms appeared, it wasn’t a symptom anymore because I was already feeling sore at the throat and my nose were runny. Body was chilly.

Woke up in the morning and I know I’m going to sleep in and call it a day.

Slept the whole day. Amazing….and still feeling really sleepy.

Woke up today and had that little urge to skip work but I thought of my workload and then the two assistants who may need guidance or more work to be delegated from me….and then I tried to feel myself again if I could stay awake the whole day.

So I went even though I knew I looked very messy. When I’m sick, my hair looks sick too. The face….just tells me it wants to face the pillow.

Anyway, I survived and I’m off to bed now.

TIME FLIES. MAY IS COMING. GOODNESS GRACIOUS.

  • Grandpa

Just got back from Melaka to visit my grandpa.

It was sad to leave him this time because of the things he said when we were about to drive back to KL. I think he’s lonely and he doesn’t like farewells. He was telling us we won’t be seeing anymore the next time we come. He said this as a way to try to make us stay. He is like a child now but I’d say his temper is mild. In some ways, he’s cute and funny.

I don’t always get to see him so we aren’t very close. We were closer when I was small and when he still had all the energy and cheerfulness in him. Things changed with the passing of my grandma more than 15 years ago. He got ill and was on a lot of medication, which made him felt out of the world, depressed. It is only recently that things were changing for the better. He is not as vocal as before but would respond when asked. He is now eating too as compared to before…where he totally gave up on eating.

He may appear like he has lost his mind because sometimes he doesn’t recognise me…but on certain things, he has superb memory. I think he chooses what he wants to remember. He surprises you with what he can remember sometimes.

    I hope he stays healthy.

  • Cat Misses Me!

    Cat came again today.

I came home from work and as I reached the door, the cat came running down from the stairs, as though it wants to crash my legs.

I don’t know why but this cat keeps coming back for me.

The last time I saw her. It was also when I was climbing up the stairs but instead of running down to catch me, it was waiting somewhere and when she saw me, she followed me up the stairs. She wanted to come in the house as usual but I couldn’t let it.

She waited at the door and then rested on the mat of my neighbour’s. I peeped through the door hole after a while to catch a glimpse of her and she was still there.

    Meow…

  • I Miss Monkey!

Monkey, now that you’re gone. I miss you!

I think Monkey has crept into the kitchen more times than I thought it has. It started off with the mysterious moving kitchen mat that went from the floor to the top, next to kitchen sink….to the time when I saw it with my own eyes of Monkey hanging on the tree.

Thinking back again, there was also one time where there were foot prints but nothing was amiss.

And then there was this time the bottle of dishwasher liquid tumbled into the kitchen sink. It could have been caused by a strong wind but then no strong wind has ever did that to the bottle of dishwasher….because it’s heavy and it doesn’t fall that easily.

Then, there was this missing brush.

The last “live” encounter we had was early in the morning when I was blow drying my hair, getting ready to get to work. Mummy was just preparing breakfast and decided to lie down on the bed while waiting for me to get ready.

My mum then SNEEZED really loud and it was immediately followed by the sound of something falling. Mummy thought I dropped something. I thought Mummy dropped something. Mummy shouted to me from the room to ask what I dropped since the sound of the hairdryer was so loud. I told her the sound does not come where I was; I said it sounded more like it was coming from her end.

She went to the kitchen and saw the rubbish bin on the floor and Monkey holding on to the window, escaping. Mummy called me to the kitchen.

It was on the tree and our windows were then quickly shut. Then Mummy said it disappeared but then I suddenly saw the tail of it just outside our window. So funny. There it was holding on to the wooden plank and looking down at Mummy, making funny facial expression.

The only thing we can analyse from this is the monkey was already inside, eating away whatever it could find in the bin and because it was early in the morning, it was quiet. So when Mummy sneezed, it caught him by surprise and maybe it panicked and overturned the bin which fell to the floor. From then on, I called Mummy’s sneeze a powerful sneeze. It scares the monkey.

We called security but he was so small in size and he was looking on top of the roof at the monkey, while we looked down from our house at him. He didn’t know what to do with the monkey. The look of his face that showed helplessness was so funny.

Fast forward a few days, we still saw Monkey but this time we were downstairs and it was up on someone else’s roof, enjoying his time, knowing people are watching him from below.

Anyway, Monkey has been caught. It went into the trap that was being set.

But you know what? I kind of miss him now. It’s like he’s playing with you. Coming into the house and gives you this puzzle that you got to solve. Usually monkey hangs out in a colony but this is a lone ranger and a very adventurous chap. He has visited all of the houses he could visit.

Dear Monkey, I hope you are someplace where you’ll be happy, a place where you’ll have lots of bananas.

  • Cheshire

A cat came to say hi today.

I was folding the pile of clothes at the living room and suddenly I saw this cat at the balcony. It saw me and had wanted to come in.

I said, “No” and it put its leg back.

It tried to step its leg across the grill door again and I said, “No”.

It did that for a few times and so I went nearer and bent down to have a closer look at it. He/she took it as a sign of welcome and had wanted to come in again. I just pat on its head and sayang it for a while. It came right in. I only allowed 5 seconds of it before I shoo it out again. I had to close the door window and it was still looking at me.

It left not long after that.

“Mummy, just now got one meow meow came. It wanted to come into the house.”

“You better not let it in..else it will come everyday.”

    “No, I didn’t let it in…but I sayang it.”

    “Must sayang one meh?”

    “Yup.”

  • All I Want To Do is Nothing

I feel like a human again because yesterday I wasn’t one.

7:30am – 2 something am. That was how long I worked. Don’t worry, I don’t skip meals. I had 2-hour lunch break and 2-hour dinner break because when I’m stressed, I really like enjoying my food, makes me feel like I’m still treating myself well.

I can finally put a stop to that after working extremely hard for the past few weeks, and working very hard since January. I still have tons to do but I will make sure I put my life back on track. My juicer, the swimming pool, the television (without a laptop in front of it), writing this blog and so on….they are waiting for me!!!

Initial plan was to wake up by 9 this morning to hit the travel fair but when I got up at 10 something, I just couldn’t bring myself to throng the crowd and I didn’t have the right energy and mind to actually absorb the packages that would be available. I have put that for tomorrow and I went out to join my friends for lunch and chat session, did some grocery shopping. I bought Korean strawberries. They are so nice and sweet, just looking at them make me feel so see-toh-beh-lei. (It’s not a word, it’s an expression in my own term.)

Came home and slept for another 3 hours. The most delicious sleep I’ve ever had in days. Now I feel re-energised and I’m ready for tomorrow.

Not going to do anything today, except to chill out, eat and sleep.

  • Monkey Attack!

This morning while I was on my way to work. A few ladies were pointing upwards and the security guards were there too. I didn’t know what they were pointing at but it could be the monkey.

Last weekend, we were out having lunch and when we were back, nobody went to the kitchen so nobody felt something was wrong. Then, it was just me and when I entered the kitchen, the water stopper that belongs to the kitchen sink was seen on the floor. I was trying to figure out who in the wrong mind would leave it there. As I walked closer towards it to examine the kitchen sink, I saw a peeled onion on the kitchen sink. Something is very wrong.

I looked very hard on the floor and saw footprints! They were too small for a human footprint. I was thinking it could be a monkey even though I’ve never encountered one that entered the house. I called my sister to solve the mystery to ask her if she left the water stopper on the floor. She told me it could have been a squirrel. I don’t think squirrel has that much energy. I still thought it was a monkey.

I just left the thought aside and had wanted to do laundry. As I carried the laundry basket, I stopped again to analyse. While I was looking blankly outside the kitchen window. I SAW IT! A MONKEY. Happily climbing on the tree outside of my kitchen window. That solved my mystery.

I quickly closed the window and I’m thankful I wasn’t at home when it entered because I have no idea how to get the naughty fella out. As much as I would like to think this is the first time, I think this is the second. The first time, I had this unsolved mystery of my kitchen mat that is supposed to stay on the floor, to be lying next to the kitchen sink. Come to think of it now, it could have been the monkey too.

There wasn’t much damage done. I think it was hungry but couldn’t find food. What’s left open was the basket of red onion and garlic. It picked a red onion, peeled off the skin but didn’t bite on it. Maybe it smelled that it didn’t taste good. And because it was hungry and all it could find was a stupid onion, it went angry and decided to throw the water stopper on the floor. Does this make sense? Hahaha.

Pappy being the guy that he is, went to flip open his 4D book, looking for the page that says Monkey. I never knew there was such a thing.

In the year of the Tiger, came a monkey! 😀
