  • That Steering Lock

And I thought I’ll be okay this morning. Was already all dressed up to go to work but I just had to go to the toilet for another round of “tummy-flushing-out-bad-things”. So I decided to take a day off and not go to work. Who knows I’ll be spending more time in the office toilet than on the office chair right?

Slept most of the time today and visited the doctor. Cooked myself carrot, chicken strips and dried scallop porridge. It’s yummy.

Of course when you’re sick, it’s bad hair day. At times I cannot stand my hair anymore. it’s “flying” away more than anything and it’s getting thicker and bushier. But I must tahan also because I need it to be a certain length before I do anything on it. So, I’d have to settle for a messier look now but that will be gone by the new year.

Someone was asking me that when I was having a boyfriend or was in a relationship…was I with long hair or short. I said long. So she said maybe it’s time to keep it long. Coming to think of it, it might have been coincident or it isn’t really about the length of the hair, he left or I would say disappear when I cut my hair short not long after that. And when you get more than 1 guy commenting about my short hair….and the very recent…as of today, telling me I look better in long hair. I think long is the answer.

Last night, when I wanted to drive out to meet a friend for dinner. My car steering lock played a trick on me. I couldn’t unlock, given the right key. Yea, it was kind of mind-numbing that I stared at it for a good few seconds, trying to push that key into the keyhole but it just doesn’t work. I called my friend who was on his way to the dinner place and he diverted to come rescue me…though I didn’t know how.

First thought that came, “I don’t have to go to work tomorrow.”

    Lousy I know.

Then I said no…I must solve this right now…so I went back to the house, took a safety pin and a paper clip, straighten it and try poking into the keyhole but doesn’t work also. So I tried to investigate what was wrong with the keyhole. There were 4 sides to it and when the key is pushed in, the 4 sides should retreat to make way for the key. 3 sides made way…but 1 was stuck…wouldn’t move. That was the problem. I continued poking la in the darkness…like don’t know what only. Sweating already. Cars parking near me with driver still inside must be wondering I’m a thief or something. haha

Then I gave up and stare at the stupid lock.

“Does the locksmith provides unlocking steering lock service?”

“Can I saw this thing to break it?”

    Then I tried to move the 4 sides. 1, 2, 3, 4

Ohh? Suddenly 4 sides is moving…so I tried with the key again. Voila!! It unlocks!

I need to get a new lock because I can’t be going through the same thing again. I know it works now but I don’t know when it’ll fail again. This lock is as old as my car is. 3 years and counting.

So when my friend came, I already rescued myself and already starting to look like shit. How to not look like shit after nursing diarrhoea for the whole day yesterday and then sweating over a steering lock. Totally layu.

Tomorrow I must rise again to conquer the world. Thanks.

  • Wa Lau Sai

I woke up pretty early in the morning. It was early because it was still dark and I didn’t know what time it was because a bad tummy woke me up. Diarrhoea.

Went back to sleep then woke up for another round of toilet.

Went back to sleep again….and then woke up to go to the toilet again.

It went on until I finally woke up at 12 noon.

Before that, I was like half dead.

I felt better but told myself and tummy that it has to behave because I’m meeting my friends for a drink, and to collect the wedding photos that I’ve been waiting for eagerly. Remember “The Best Wedding Ever” that I wrote about? Yea…love the photo I took with the bride and with the rest of the jimui.

I actually had a free mini facial appointment but I had to give that a miss as diarrhoea came back again.

Went home to rest and waited another friend for dinner. As it’s going to be a late dinner and I’m not sure if my stomach would co-operate, I cooked myself carrot porridge. Then, I went out with my friend for Japanese food as planned weeks ago. I hope my stomach doesn’t give me anymore trouble when I sleep later tonight. Had to meet this friend tonight because he flew all the way from Miri for a training and I didn’t get to meet him the last time he was in KL….so I just know I had to at least make myself present for the dinner.

I’m thankful for the eventful weekends I’ve been having since October. Going to celebrate a friend’s birthday this Friday, meeting an ex-colleague on Saturday. Sunday…maybe I should speed up on my house cleaning and furniture rearranging. My house needs some major cleaning up. There is so many things accumulated over the years and it’s quite scary because if I don’t remove some stuff or rearrange them, my house will soon turn into a junk house.

The following weekend, I’ll be off to Kota Kinabalu. I’ve always wanted to go to Kota Kinabalu for quite some time. I guess the last time when I really visited Kota Kinabalu was probably 10 years ago or more. Pappy is spending more of his time in KK than in Sandakan due to work commitments…so I’m going to visit him over in KK…while Mummy will be flying to KK from Sandakan…so the 3 of us will gather…and we’ll be celebrating Pappy and Mummy’s wedding anniversary. I will do some shopping. Enjoy some beautiful sunsets over the harbour. EAT!!!

  • Keropok Lekor and Me

I like the idea that Obama won! 😀

I was eating keropok lekor during lunch, as my dessert I would say and I heard a sound coming from my mouth. Like something clashing but ignored it because I couldn’t feel anything, it didn’t hurt.

I felt that there was like something stuck in my mouth after that, thought it was some leftover of the keropok still stuck in my mouth. But no…it was one of the brackets of my braces. It came off! It’s now hanging on the arch wire, sliding left and right with much joy after having stuck on my back teeth for close to 5 months now. Times flies doesn’t it…I’m going into my 5th month of wearing braces.

I’m reporting to work very early tomorrow so that I can go off earlier to see my dentist after work. No more keropok lekor for now!

I’m also growing back my hair. It has been about 6 months since I cut my hair short and it’s about time I grow it back. Pappy loves me with long hair and he has been reminding me twice about keeping my hair long.

“I don’t look nice in short hair, is it?”

“No…I didn’t say that..I just asked you to keep it long.”

“I really don’t look nice in short hair, is it?”

    “I didn’t say that…just keep it long.”

Some guys really dig long hair. I’ve got pretty mixed reaction with the cut of my hair. It’s either, “What happened to you?”  or “You look damn nice in short hair.” I’m not really sure which one I look better in but the thing that prompted me to cut it short is when I see someone who can pull it off with short hair and looks great, I have this sudden urge of wanting to cut it and have that kind of style too.

I still like my hair short…but I’m going to keep it a long short. Not too long and not too short. Get it rebonded and I’ll look like a goddess.

Then you’ll see me walking like there’s a strong wind blowing towards me…but there’s just no wind…just me swinging my head. Hahaha.

I also liked the idea that I found another alternative to drive home from my work place. That would make it the 4th route to drive home from work. And do you know that one of the favourite things I like to do is to keep track of the odometer? Knowing how far is the destination from my house. And do you know that I only knew that I could actually reset the odometer (not the main one) to zero so that I can see the kilometres going up instead of jotting down the kilometre from the main odometer then get it subtracted with the new kilometre measurement once I reach my destination….after 2 years of having this car?

That’s not the only thing. I also realised that I could actually make the wiper to do a quick job, just one wipe of the windscreen by pushing the steering column switch up lightly…after maybe a year and a half of driving this car of mine?

The most classic one of all hor…is I don’t even know that a spare tyre existed…because it’s hidden in the bottom of my boot and I don’t get to see it. It’s covered and when I don’t see it, I think it doesn’t exist. I had the guts to tell AAM when I called them up one day to fix my flat tyre that I don’t have a spare tyre and asked them to bring one for me to have it replaced with my flat tyre. The operator must be laughing at me then it suddenly dawned on me that a spare tyre do exist after calling my dad. I had to then call AAM back again to rescue me…because I had a spare tyre with me. They don’t fix it for you if you don’t have one.

So you see…sometimes I’m a bit dungu…but it’s being dungu that makes you smart.

  • argh

For the first time in my life, I actually brought work home!

Because I can’t finish my work even though I went to work slightly earlier and came home later and because I don’t want to stay late tomorrow.

I really really don’t like this.

I have to miss that drama on TV.

  • Hello Grace!

Opportunity came knocking today and I think I’ll give it a try.

It’s better than not trying and then thinking of the “what-ifs”.

    And regretting for not trying.

  • Happy Deepavali!

Was home the whole day, nursing a pair of itchy legs. Ada benda yang gigit aku di pantai tu.

Back to work tomorrow, looking forward to it because my mind is already on Friday. I’m going to see my 2 lovely friends again.

    CAN’T WAIT!!!

  • A Day at the Beach

This is the first time I’m actually playing driver for 4 other passengers for a day trip to Sepang Gold Coast or any day trip for that matter. The idea of a day trip has long been lingering on our lips but it’s just talk only. This time, it triggered again when I was having a Sunday tea session last week at Fullhouse (????), NiuZheXui (???), Ara Damansara. I want to go there again…love how this cafe/restaurant is based on the Korean drama – Fullhouse theme. We even met MY FM’s deejay, Royce and Wai Fun there. My second time at NZX but many shops have been closed down but found a boutique for decent dress at reasonable price at one of the shop lots. Did not buy anything and I’ve been restricting my temptations pretty well. 🙂

Anyway, back to the main story.

The 3 of us, my friend and her colleague and me went for brunch at Jin Xuan Hong Kong Restaurant, Damansara Jaya for dimsum. Chanced upon this when I went to Hong Kee Dim Sum, also in Damansara Jaya for breakfast the last time and saw that there was a long queue…reckon that it must be good from the crowd. I would say it’s not bad a place to have dimsum. They serve big fat juicy dimsums and when we were already beginning to feel full, there were more choices of dimsum coming out. Some are new to me.

After that, we headed for Cyberjaya to pick 2 of my ex-colleagues, now my lovely friends. Lepak a while at Old Town Cyberjaya before the journey began.

I don’t really know what to expect in Sepang Gold Coast and was also quite worried if it’s going to turn out boring but it turned out pretty interesting. All you need is company.

Actually I’ve been to this place. A friend brought me here once to fly kite! Just didn’t know that Sepang Gold Coast is actually Pantai Bagan Lalang. Sepang Gold Coast is still ongoing contruction with villas stretching towards the Straits of Malacca and sorts. But we were there for the sea breeze, the sunset and just for the idea of being on a beach..so it didn’t really matter.

When we arrived, it was still early. 4pm and sun was still shining very brightly. We lepak around the area and took lots of picture and flew a kite.

    Say hi to SpongeBob kite!

I like this picture a lot. There’s my friend there, flying a kite. There’s me there, holding the camera taking thic pic.

    These are happy feet!

The sunset would have been more picturesque if only those clouds weren’t blocking the sun. Nevertheless, it’s still ok, at least we could see a tiny bit of the sun.

There were about 2-3 couples taking wedding pictures here. This is one.

We settled for steamboat for dinner at the restaurant there before heading back to KL. You really have to buka your mata besar-besar when you drive back because it’s pitch dark. Some parts of the road only have cat’s eyes to lit up the road. Some are flickering…very nice. Like fireflies flattened on the road.
